Colombo → Chilaw → Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Ella → Mahiyanganaya → Trincomalee → Dambulla → Colombo

Day 01

Arrival in Colombo

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to your hotel. An evening optional visit to Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple – an important Hindu shrine – provides a meaningful opening to the Ramayana journey.

Day 02

Colombo to Chilaw

Drive to Chilaw for a guided visit to Munneswaram Temple – one of the island’s most sacred Shaivite shrines, believed to be where Lord Rama prayed after his victory over Ravana – and Manavari Temple, where the first Shiva Lingam in Sri Lanka was installed by Lord Rama. A quiet evening by the lagoon follows.

Day 03

Chilaw to Kandy

Scenic drive to Kandy with an optional countryside stop. Evening visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, with an optional cultural show to close the night.

Day 04

Kandy to Nuwara Eliya via Ramboda

Drive through the tea country, stopping at the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple at Ramboda – a striking hilltop shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Visit Ramboda Falls before continuing to Nuwara Eliya. Evening visit to Seetha Amman Temple – one of Sri Lanka’s most beloved Ramayana sites.

Day 05

Nuwara Eliya Ramayana Exploration

Visit Hakgala Botanical Garden – believed to be the Ashoka Vatika where Sita was held by Ravana. Explore surrounding Sita-related forest areas and streams, with an optional tea plantation walk or light highland hike.

Day 06

Nuwara Eliya to Ella by Train

Board the scenic mountain train to Ella. Visit Ravana Falls and Ravana Cave – both deeply connected to the Ramayana legend – before settling into your overnight lodge.

Day 07

Ella to Mahiyanganaya

Scenic drive through the hills to Mahiyanganaya. Visit Mahiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya – one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most sacred Buddhist sites. An optional Vedda village interaction with Sri Lanka’s indigenous community offers a rare and extraordinary cultural encounter.

Day 08

Mahiyanganaya to Trincomalee

Early morning drive to Trincomalee for a guided visit to Koneswaram Temple, perched dramatically on Swami Rock above the sea and deeply connected to the Ravana legend. Explore Fort Frederick and relax by Nilaveli Beach.

Day 09

Trincomalee to Dambulla

Optional morning snorkelling at Pigeon Island before the drive inland to Dambulla. Visit the extraordinary Dambulla Cave Temple. Optional village experience or nature walk in the afternoon.

Day 10

Dambulla → Colombo → Departure

Drive back to Colombo with an optional local market or shopping stop. Transfer to the airport for departure.
