11 Days / 10 Nights

Negombo → Anuradhapura → Mihintale → Forest Monastery → Kandy → Ella → Colombo

Day 01

Arrival in Negombo

Arrive and transfer to a seaside hotel in Negombo. A period of rest and gentle recovery from travel is followed by an evening beach walk or quiet lagoon boat ride – a calm, unhurried beginning to a mindful journey.

Day 02

Negombo to Anuradhapura

Scenic northern drive with comfortable rest stops. Arrive in Anuradhapura and check in before an evening visit to the great white Ruwanwelisaya Stupa – a place of profound peace and quiet devotion – for flower offerings at dusk.

Day 03

Anuradhapura Spiritual Immersion

Early morning at the Sri Maha Bodhi Tree, followed by a guided exploration of Thuparamaya, Lovamahapaya, and Jetavanaramaya monasteries and ancient reservoirs. The day closes with guided meditation at the hotel or a nearby temple.

Day 04

Anuradhapura → Mihintale → Forest Monastery

Visit Mihintale – the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka – for a gentle climb and exploration of the hilltop ruins where King Devanampiyatissa first encountered the Dhamma. Transfer to a forest monastery for a quiet overnight retreat.

Day 05

Forest Retreat & Active Exploration

A morning guided forest trek through jungle trails, waterfalls, and spice gardens. Afternoon nature photography or birdwatching, with an optional local village visit featuring hands-on cultural or craft activities. A day of beautiful balance between contemplation and gentle activity.

Day 06

Forest Retreat to Kandy

Travel to Kandy, arriving in time for the evening Thevava ritual at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – an intimate and moving ceremony that lies at the heart of Sri Lankan Buddhist life. Optional lakeside walk before overnight in Kandy.

Day 07

Kandy Exploration & Temples

Morning visits to Gadaladeniya and Lankatilaka Temples – ancient hilltop shrines of great architectural and spiritual significance. A slow afternoon walk at Peradeniya Botanical Gardens provides peaceful reflection, followed by an optional evening cultural dance performance.

Day 08

Kandy → Ella (Scenic Train Journey)

Board the iconic highland train for one of the world’s most beautiful rail journeys, winding through tea country and mist-covered hills. Arrive in Ella for a quiet evening walk through the surrounding tea estates.

Day 09

Ella Reflection & Nature

A gentle morning walk to Little Adam’s Peak, followed by a visit to the Nine Arches Bridge. Optional cooking experience with locals in the afternoon, and a visit to Dhowa Rock Temple – a serene and little-known sacred site carved into a riverside rock face.

Day 10

Ella to Colombo

Scenic drive back, with an optional stop at Gangaramaya Temple or Kosgoda Temple en route. A farewell dinner in Colombo brings the journey’s spiritual thread to a warm and reflective close.

Day 11

Departure

Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport.
